Welcome

Welcome to the University of Pennsylvania TRC online. This TRC is part a national network supporting NIH funded clinical investigators. This site is intended to be a resource for TRC investigators, subjects and other clinical research centers.

Founded in 1962 with a National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant, the Translational Research Center (TRC) is a multi-disciplinary research facility which has recently been relocated to a newly constructed unit, centrally located within the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center. The TRC houses eight in-patient beds and five out-patient bays has a metabolic kitchen staffed by a dietitian and is equipped with a highly sophisticated Cardiac Monitoring system. In addition, the Center has a state-of-the art computer system, software and databases designed to store, protect and analyze clinical research data.

The TRC is a core facility for patient related clinical research at the Medical Center. This facility provides a valuable resource for physicians whose research requires a controlled environment for their investigations. Important areas of investigation include AIDS Clinical Trials, Sleep Research, Gene Therapy, Dermatology, Metabolism, Oncology, Neurology, Psychiatry, Chemical Senses and Women and Minority Health Research.
